I post occasionally, but I've actually been hanging around here two years, originally finding DNDN while doing an Internet search for one of my patients (and personal friends) with metastatic breast cancer. Neuvenge in Phase 1 was intriguing to me because my friend had failed on Herceptin already, and I called DNDN to get her enrolled in the Phase 2 Neuvenge trial. "Sorry, we don't have Phase 2 organized yet" was the answer two years ago.
But in the course of learning about the company, I decided to invest a little, before we received the shockingly good news in October 2004 that survival for prostate cancer exceeded all expectations, in all groups. Then, I became a serious investor. As I learned the science behind Provenge, studied the results, I became more and more convinced that Provenge would win FDA approval eventually. But to watch the clobbering of this company ever since is a real tragedy, not just for investors, but for the paralysis of medical research. Neuvenge is now on "permanent hold." If Neuvenge packs the same whallop for HER2/neu breast cancer patients as Provenge does for prostate, then this delay is a horrible and unnecessary tragedy. Today, I learned that my friend's tumor has now spread to her brain, giving her only a few months to live. And Neuvenge sits on the back burner...probably for a year, minimum, thanks to the scoundrels manipulating this stock. My friend will never get the chance to participate in the Neuvenge trial. Ah, but this is just Wall Street and hedge funds and angry UBS and Big Pharma -- it's just the business of making money, right? To paraphrase an old adage, as applied to the manipulators of this stock...When someone kills another person, we call him a murderer. When someone kills a score of people, we call him insane. But when someone kills many thousands, we call it "fair market value." The glee expressed on this board about bringing DNDN to its knees by the shorts is highly instructional as to our base human nature. If I were not seeing women die regularly from breast cancer, I might be right there shouting myself if I were making money (though I'd never admit my depravity on a message board). Nevertheless, if we were talking about a company building widgets, then have fun, long or short. But if you have any remnant of decency left, think before you express your orgiastic delight over the fact that DNDN, with the first successful cancer vaccine, is being pummeled and paralyzed...people are dying in the interim, all in the name of making money. Ah, capitalism at its _______. Longs will get the last laugh. And, how nice to be able to buy DNDN right now, when it is trading at a level not too much different than where it would trade on the outside chance of FDA rejection($2 per share), or with an "approvable" letter rather than full approval ($4 per share, e.g., ENCY). Yes it ought to be trading at $10-15 right now, but does this really matter? No long is planning to sell now anyway. We are all waiting for full FDA approval ($30 to $70), and maybe higher if P-11 looks good. Higher still if booster doses work better yet, higher still if labeling is broadened, higher still if pipeline kicks in. Yes, plenty of competition out there a few years behind DNDN, but here's my plan -- I'm heavily invested now...I plan to sell half with FDA approval, then just hang on with the rest and see what happens. Good luck to all longs. And shorts, please do your best to remember that this product is not about WiMax or RFID chips or some other inanimate technology. Yes, we're all here to make money, but some of us happen to be the ones who, when we punch our time cards at work, it's to watch our fellow humans get eaten alive by this disease, suffering horrific deaths. Hold the glee, please. Sentiment : Strong Buy Rating :
