Until storage becomes part of the overall system install I don't think you will truly see solar, wind, hydro, biomass etc take off. This is going to explode when Obama needs to create jobs over over the next 3 years b/c of unemployment at 10.2% and he gives a 400 billion stimulus package to AE and gives tax credits and incentives on top of that.
