Your infatuation of Eisner has blinded you to how the company has been evolving. You might try reading DisneyWar.

And then check Disney’s sock chart. When Eisner and Wells took over, they started a new era of growth. The company’s STRONGEST years were between ’84 and ’93. After the second stock split in ’94, the growth slowed.

Company growth does not turn on a dime. It takes years to build growth momentum (given good leadership). Conversely, it can take years to kill momentum, which is what happened after Well’s death.

That’s not to say that EVERYTHING the company did after ’94 was a failure. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. It took Eisner some time to destroy much of the company’s goodwill within the industry.

As for Iger, first of all, he had a lot of repair work to do after Eisner left. He made some significant improvements, but that doesn’t mean that everything he’s done has been beneficial. Some decisions I disagree with. However, I don’t see that Eisner had anything left that would have been at all beneficial for Disney. And Eisner’s last five years failed to provide any growth either.

So, whatever your reason for hyping Eisner, I’d suggest that you be less hostile about it. You come across being very much like Eisner yourself.
