Nice comment. I look at Brazil's strengths as the mirror image of the US' weaknesses. Where the US has an aging industrial economy on the decline, based on addiction to previously cheap oil and assumed preeminence of the dollar, Brazil is just starting to hit its stride.

They are for all intents and purposes energy independent. They produce abundant sugar cane ethanol and power their cars that way. Thus, their future as net exporters of oil is bright. The US places tariffs on Brazilian sugar cane ethanol to prop up its absurdly inefficient corn ethanol markets.

Moreover, Brazil is positioned for weathering not only the decline of oil, but also water, a far more valuable commodity that is hampering economies and lives around the world. Brazil is strong in every meaningful commodity and that is all today's markets are about.

With that, I'd expect not only the Real to grow, but also brazilian financial institutions as their countrymen grow extremely wealthy.

Unlike the other so called BRIC emerging economies, Brazil has a reasonable government, without slave labor and artificial price controls. Their companies are far more reliable and their people are far more happy and innovative.

Just bought 4000 shares of BZF and will monitor it. These etfs could fail to match the real's performance, but also could exceed it, since they pay a yield.
