You're probably right about me being off by some decimal points, it was a quick top of the head calc....and I didn't even consider the preferreds vs. common stock issue. All I really saw on the balance sheet was some totals like $X assets - $Y liabilities = 6% shareholder equity.

That's why I inferred that my calc was questionable at best ;-) I won't even pretend to know how to properly read financial reports, I had to take Accounting 101 in college 3 times just to get a B! True story, and I graduated with a B.S. in Physics, which practically requires a math minor.....but the math is a totally different language IRL.
