A couple of the folks that they let go today I knew personally to be people of upstanding moral character. They had been with the company for quite some time. While they weren't upper management, they were the kind of folks that had a ton of operational and institutional knowledge that will be very, very hard to replace. It is almost as if the executives have been sitting around the past few years with a giant chess board in front of them just shuffling pieces around for the heck of it with absolutely no knowledge of what the pieces on the board really represent or how they might best fit together.

The place is pretty much just a hollow shell of its former self. It is really a shame. I know that there are still great people schlogging along within the company, but seeing these kinds of people unceremoniously tossed out on their behinds won't do much for morale (as if the lack of a bonus for the past several years hasn't already sucked the life out of most folks).
