From now until the end of the year, Vertex has a few more investor conference presentations, as well as an expected announcement of the initiation of patient enrollment in the combination STAT C Phase 2 study with VX 222 and telaprevir.
After an extremely positive week following AASLD, analysts are finally raising price targets and ratings for VRTX as the company nears FDA approval of telaprevir next year.

The result this week, despite a choppy ride, has been the stock breaking out into new 52 week highs on a doubling of daily trading volume over the past ten days compared to the prior three months. (This occurring in spite of the Congress voting on health care reform this weekend.) Very bullish sign technically I would say. With over 18 million shares reported short last month, I suspect the next analyst upgrade or higher price target from a major financial firm (like Goldman or Merill/BofA), rumor of buyout from a major pharm (like JNJ or Novartis) or the next piece of postitive PR from the company itself could get the stock's upward momentum moving more quickly, and the new support for the stock could easily be in the mid forties.
