I worked for these boneheads selling kitchen refacing and decks. Their only customer is the Home Depot and as you know, HD is not doing well. In addition, HD does not offer wood decks anymore because they are problematic and the composite decks sold through USHS are too expensive...about 40% more than local contractors.

As for refacing, another bad move. Kitchen Magic and Consumers Kitchens and Baths blow the doors off USHS price wise. It's really embarrassing going on a call and quoting $15,000 only to have the homeowner show you an estimate for $10,000 - $12,000 before throwing you out of their home.

Finally the pressure. Although it is Home Depot's goal to leave the client with good feelings whether you get the job or not, USHS looks at it differently because their commission depends on your sale. Should you not get the sale, you must call your manager, turn the phone over to the client and sit there like a jerk while the manager applies high pressure tactics!

Maybe during the roaring 80's and 90's people had so much money they didn't look closely at pricing. However, in today's competitive market, USHS doesn't stand a chance! USHS bases its pricing on the fact that you have the buying power and security of the Home Depot behind you, but that only goes so far when you can save 40% or more through other established firms. Besides, with the way the financial institutions are folding, nobody can guarantee The Home Depot will be around in 5-years!

Think about it before investing a dime in this company!
