The New Deflation      4-Nov-09 09:35 am
Since prices seem to be rising everywhere, I have been puzzled by what the govt means by "deflation." I have concluded that it means the products we buy are getting smaller, like a balloon when it deflates. So when Kleenex (TM) reduces from 8.4 in to 8 in., and a bottle of OJ goes from 16 oz. to 15.4, and you get 90 aspirin in a bottle instead of 100, you have the new deflation. These are real cases BTW.

This insight has helped me accept that our smaller, deflated USB dividend is OK because the things we buy are smaller as well.

You are welcome.
