I don't like filling that hole with future tax dollars (since it's all deficit spending) either and I'm open to other ideas that have a legitimate chance at working, but I don't realistically see any other way at this point.
When the major banks and investment firms have their hat out to the govt. for bailouts, you know the situation is dire and there is little available capital in the private sector. I don't see any of these hot-shot MIT-trained Wall Street kids who became multi-millionaires in the last couple of years (by betting against America and the economy), willing to pony up for the good of their country either.
