Just wanted to start a new thread as it got increasingly difficult to find new posts on the "Kindness of Ted Kennedy" thread.

My take on public health care is this: I have a health care program and I suspect you both do. I also suspect our financial situation is better than most low income people who work their asses off to put food on the table and have no health care benefits to show for it. I feel a person who works 40-hours per week year to year simply deserves a health care program. If their state doesn't require their employer to provide it, then this natioanl program will serve them. I also realize these things do not come free...but the common man deserves this.

I could not imagine how a person whose daughter had cancer and did not have health care coverage could ever bear the guilt and expense of providing his child the best care. As a taxpayer, if it costs me $100 extra a month to care for the downtrodden, I'm willing to chip in...granted, you're right, the system is not perfect....but sometimes it is the right thing to look out for others besides number 1.
