You either misinterpreted my original post on this subject or didn't read it all the way through.

My original contention was that:

The initial 20 years of his working career covered 1 year of Social Security benefits.

The next 20 years of his career covered 2 to 3 years of SS benefits.

And the last 10 years of his career covered about 5 years of benefits.

So 8 to 9 years....we're in agreement!

The system was never set up to support someone for more than about 10 years anyway, so the #'s work out.
