It's an absence of buyers in an illiquid stock. If UBCP announces a stock dividend, it will zip to $9/share in the blink of a press release. Traditionally, they were announcing the stock divs. in late Nov. for payment in Dec. Increasing the share count would be good for UBCP now that they've eliminated the duplication in the front office and added the banks from the FDIC. The worry is the rise in FDIC insurance payments being foisted on small banks.
