Ok, for those of you who like this O/T DD stuff, bear with me, I’ve got a dilemma, lol. (BTW, Thanks for all the kind words on my OPTT pic.) Similar to my broad based investment thesis back in Aug on undervalued plays in the Retail food arena, when I was advocating buys on such companies as KR, SWY, and even SLE and DF for specific plays INSIDE the store (and you can go look at the charts of them all in last two months to see what I meant) I now have some similar plays in the Technology Arena, which is still a very beaten down and undervalued sector, comparatively speaking. If you remember the reasons for my rec on the retail issues, being severely oversold due to US recessionary conditions causing consumer ‘white label’ brand selection, reduced purchase quantity, reduced customers, brand cannibalism, eroding margins, and overall sales and profit reductions. Now as the recession ends, with the consumer regaining some degree of confidence, the first thing the ave Fat, spoiled American wants to do is eat, going back to their favorite brands, away from top ramen and spam. Remember? Ok, what is the next thing this same Ave Fat American wants, once he has his plate loaded with steaming mounds of Sara Lee meat and potatoes, and the dog is eating something other than left over bologna rinds? That’s right, entertainment. One of those new HDTVs. Flat screen something. Xbox. Playstations. MP3 players. PDA. Something electronic with flashing lights to make you dizzy, and probably made in China. Well, these have been just simply neglected during the current US recession. When you can’t pay your mortgage or car payment, you aren’t buying new entertainment do-das every week like before. But there is a pent up demand. The kids are tired of that old x-box, and want a new one to burn your cash. TV has went digital and you still have those crumby rabbit ears or that converter box that sucks. Your wife is renting BlueRay at Blockbuster, you don’t even have a BR machine and you don’t want to tell her the real reason the picture doesn’t really look as good as at the video store (it’s a worn disc hon) You have lost your house, lost your job, and moved 4 times, breaking a lot of the electronics, forgetting some of it out in the trailer, and then it rained, or Pawning it off to get gas money to get to Moms. Anyway, you get my drift. Its now time to rebuy some China electronic goodies.
