I have been following TCAP for 6 months and have a small position of 300 shares. I plan to do a complete analysis on them over the next couple of weeks. I am concerned that they have $15m of unrealized depreciation. I have spoken to the company today and IMO much of this will turn into capital losses. As a BDC they can not offset the capital losses against dividend income, so it would have not impact on the dividend. Their stategy is to hopefully offset these future realized capital losses with capital gains from their equity and warrant investments. Other BDC like Hercules HTGC have been able to accomplish this so far. TCAP is too young to really know whether they can pull this off. I am not worried about TCAP, that is why I don't feel have a rush to look deeper at sooner. IMO the dividend is secure and my additional research is really geared to whether I want to go further long with them.
