I read with fascination and terrible concern that Fannie Mae wants to sell "its" tax credits.

Surely we can get some balance into the reporting of this story. Write your newspapers, your Congressman. As for Obama and Geithner - don't waste your time. They are complicit.

If Fannie Mae were an independent company, that is one story. But Fannie Mae is now a ward of the state. We own it.

Fannie Mae is us now. It's "our" tax credits!

We should not sell tax credits for a fraction of their worth when we can collect a full tax bill from another taxpayer. Or put another way, when did our Govt start offering up "pay to play" discounts on tax bills?

Surely the media can find some insightful people to quote who will present what an absurd arrangement it would be for Fannie Mae, part of the US Govt, to sell its tax credits. It would be a perversion of the tax system. It would be unequal treatment of corporations and real people. It would be a slap in the face to the taxpayer who is paying for all these bailouts. We should collect the full tax bill from anyone, including Goldman Sachs. That is, unless Obama and Geithner start issuing discounts to all of us.

Until you and I are allowed a discount on our tax bill, our Govt shouldn't be selling tax discounts disguised as Fannie Mae tax credits to wolves like Goldman Sachs. Please spread this common sense that opposes the nonsense Wall Street is serving up Main Street.

Only when financial journalists toughen up, and become more insightful, can America right itself. Get a balanced story out there, please.
