Sherritt has lots of good things going for it right now, in that there are some sure things in the future that will help the share prices go up. While none of these can be assigned a specific date, most are inevitable.

1. If you are in the U.S. then Sherritt will benefit from the re-inflation trade which will cause the Canadian dollar to regain strength. The Canadian dollar will benefit on any commodity inflation, from gold to metals to oil to agriculture.

2. Base metals have plunged to multi-year lows. If there isn't going to be an economic recovery, then no stocks will go up. If there is going to be an economic recovery, the base metals will go up early in the cycle. Sherritt is a low cost producer of nickel, so it can still survive while the nickel prices are low, and profit handsomely when they go up.

3. The massive global spending on recovery will weaken most currencies, which will eventually lead to price increases in hard commodities, like metals.

4. Obama has said that he may begin talking with Cuba. The Hispanic population in the U.S. wants this, and with Bill Richardson stepping aside, this would be an easy way for Obama to keep the Hispanic population happy. Any thawing of relations will help all Cuban related stocks.

5. The Castros will begin enriching Cuban soil not too far in the distant future. When this happens, the embargo may be lifted. Enough said.

6. When Russia dropped communism, multiple new billionaires were created by giving selected individuals and companies control over Russian markets or commodities. Sherritt is already in Cuba, so will likely benefit as the 'state' in Cuba starts handling out similar things to selected individuals and companies.

7. While the U.S. doesn't want to drill in the Gulf of Mexico, or on coastal shores, there may be substantial oil north of Cuba. Sherritt is already doing some oil stuff there, but we could see lots of investment and drilling once the free market can invest. The irony is that the U.S. Congress is blocking drilling off the Florida coast, but where their territory overlaps with Cuba, the Cubans can drill in the exact same places.

Sherritt is available at a nice multi-year low price right now, and has great potential if you can hold this for a few years. I'm looking at a 3 or 4 bagger in a few years.
