Got an email this week announcing a webinar SDBT is hosting and it has nothing to do with a) voice message delivery, b) mobile messaging, or c) collections. They PAID Forrester to do a study about capturing customer preferences. Is this SDBTs new gig – a data management company? Aren’t there a million companies that already do this a heck of a lot better than SDBT with almost no marketplace value? They seemed to take this focus when they added a CMO last year – they needed a CTO. SDBT needs to stop trying to be a marketing service company with no multiplier to their valuations and get better at being a technology company. The last year has been a complete waste because of this lack of focus. I hope the new CEO can get them back on a track that actually makes sense.

The benefits organizations have seen from implementing a consumer preference program. Webinar attendees will receive a complimentary copy of a commissioned study on consumer communication preferences conducted by Forrester Consulting on behalf of SoundBite Communications.”

I don’t get it – anyone have any idea why they would do this?
