These 5 drug companies face the steepest patent cliff and-by the way-together hold approximately $88.3B in cash to make deals. BMY,MRK,AZN,PFE and FRX are all in the same sinking boat and all have to make deals because they simply have no other choice. The other big negative headwind these same 5 companies now face is the new HC bill which is estimated to cost the industry approximately $80B over the next 10 yrs. That's what you call a double whammy. A huge patent cliff + huge rebates. Both factors IMO will compel the 5 above and others to pay a premium for approvable, blockbuster potential drugs.
