I don't have the link, but there was an article in last Friday's Financial Times about how the supply and demand for sugar is so out of whack right now. There was a quote from an analyst who said that basically there just isn't anywhere near enough sugar making it into the U.S. right now (and being produced here) to meet demand. Sugar prices have risen significantly over the past year.

Firmenich now basically has exclusive access to a sucrose enhancer that can reduce the amount of sugar needed in a wide range of products by 50%. I bet that does good things for their business models.
