Now that Steipp's 10-year stint is over, has anyone done a post-mortem on his performance, It seems that the Board would have before agreeing to his payout of his golden parachute. Steipp purchased a lot of companies to create the illusion of growth, did not understand how to manage a multi-technology multi-location company, kept the company headquartered in one of the most expensive locations in the US (is Time & Frequency really a Silicon Valley type of technology?), never developed a clear marketing strategy mainly due to fact that he fired the person that had a clear strategic vision of what to do with the company and instead kept a really horrible person that continues to head the marketing for the telecom-side of the company, kept the stock prices fairly flat (certainly never achieved the 15% annual growth that he & Slater professed were possible for the past 10 years). For this tremendous performance, Steipp gets something like 2-3x of his yearly salary? and let's not forget this years bonus plan, if the company has a 0.35-0.40 eps on certain (undefined) non-GAPP items, the Board will give him another 1.5x of his yearly salary???. This is nothing but theft and greed, theft because the only way that the 0.35-0.40 was achieved was due to an "impairment of goodwill" that was kept in the coffers for just such a occasion and greed because what makes him believe that his performance deserves his level of pay, bonuses, and golden parachute (there is nothing in his performance that can justify this, it is just that he is greedy and he probably cannot even recognize this behavior in himself, he just thinks he's worth it). Not a noble individual.
He has left a mess for the next CEO.
