In a strictly business sense, ST is indeed a pig. I did some channel-checks on ST and they were not positive:
-50,000 employees to support $8.9B in revenue--almost twice as many people as most of its competitors -More concerned with being a employer of many than being a maximizer of profit -Many key customers consider them to be difficult to work with and at times arrogant -Major lack of synergy within the organization -Management's first priority is self-preservation -Sense of management entitlement to 2-hour lunches and short work hours -Shareholder value is an aferthought. They speak of Wall St as if they are being victimized. -Management is promotional in nature--they get excited just to meet the consensus estimate. The same estimate that they ultimately provide. Whoopie! -Most importantly, they are wealth destroyers. Over the last three years, they lost money in an up-market. Way to execute your long term strategic objectives rather than succumb to the myopic quarter-to-quarter Wall Street expectations. My proposal is for a change agent: Take the company private or insert a turnaround specialist, like Mr. Jerry York. Kirk K Sentiment : Hold Rating :
