50mm shares outstanding, 14.3mm short or 28% of the stock, according to Big Reports. According to High Short Interest stocks, STEC's stock was almost 39% short or almost 20mm shares short.

32mm shares traded hands yesterday. So, simply put, 16 million sells, 16 million buys.

Based on these numbers, I would imagine the majority of shorts covered with this monumental price drop. Admittedly, a great return for them. Congrats.

Keep in mind this company has a PE ratio of 15.9, well below the nasdaq average. Clearly this company is not going out of business and at this price level it reflects a solid buying opportunity. Then, you have the possibility of a major contract announcement as well.

Shorts, generally, are greedy, but not too stupid. They realize they become forced buyers at higher prices. I can only hope they did not cover.

I'll sit on my 6000 shares at 14.9 and probably will buy more today.
