Listings at the Visian ICL doctors lists at staar.com and visianinfo.com changed during Oct 2009 increasing by 8 unique names, 7 in the US and 1 in Belgium. The US ICL-certified lists increased officially from 606 to 613. The international list at the end of October has 765 unique names, by my count. The US listings of “Leading Visian ICL Specialists” remained unchanged, as does the number of US military ICL practitioners.

Given the nature of economies more robust than the US, particularly China, I’m somewhat surprised that international growth has not been stronger. There has been no change in the numbers of listings of China, India, and S. Korea since Feb 09. These are the next 3 countries with the largest number of ICL practitioners, according to Staar Surgical.

The ongoing trial, like the first, I expect is occupying the majority of the current CEO’s time, but not that of the former CEO. The pricing pressures in Japan due to IOL competition in that market has little impact in these other markets.
