I was researching this stock more after holding it for a while.
It appears to me that Chile will withold 23% of any dividend distribution. If you are in the 28% tax bracket in the US, the US will take 28%. 23 + 28 = 51% taxed away. These two governments take most of it. This is a very poor holding if you are interested in the dividends. Please let me know if I have this wrong. It appears Chile is odd in that there is no tax treaty between Chile and the US. Therefore, you get no credit on your US taxes for the $ taken by Chile. Crap I think I mishandled this investment. I shouldn't own it. I think I just got taught a lesson dealing with a company in the 3rd world. Rating :
