The conference call seemed positive with the announcement of the higher volumes in June. It would seem that if Sonoco is running their mills at the stated 95% and Caraustar noted that they were already running their mills at 93% in the spring that the loose cannon would be Newark and what operating rate are they running? If OCC prices are rising then Son will need to recoup the raw materials cost. If they raise prices will they just loose volume? Maybe the better buy would be Newark. Into the fall demand will rise and selling prices will follow upward. This could be a good sign that maybe the bottom has been reached for Son.
