There was a segment on The Today Show this morning about the process of death - how the brain stays "alive" for a period of time after the heart stops. The research is being done using the INVOS monitor to record the brain's oxygen saturation levels after the heart stops beating. Although this is not the target market for the device, it does demonstrate the technology as being the state of the art way to get this information. I found the segment to be very interesting.
