Tell me you're not serious! Buying on emotion without research is really lame. The numbers say SELL. Check out Yahoo Finance key statistics and Vector Vest. Yes, there's been momentum in the stock price and this often happens even with weak foundations--which is certainly the case with SMRT. Emotional retail buyers are propping up the stock price. Institutions are exiting (1.9 m shares in the last recorded quarter.) I got out in the high 10s as I thought the upside was limited. It turns out, my exit was ill timed, but I believe it will go back and fill the gap. I'm glad I got out before it returns to $6 or lower per share. How long can this company continue to lose money before bankruptcy (as in other similar retailers: Mervyns, Gottschalks) becomes a real option? Bankruptcy would keep the company alive, but destroy the current stockowners' investments. The company would, of course, issue new stock, creating capitol to keep their stores open. Regardless of your theory that buying is good for the soul, it definitely seems bad for the portfolio if you do your due diligence.
