RVX just raised $25M in a financing that ended up diluting the shareholders about 35% or so. They basically ran out of cash at a very bad time and had to take the best deal they could, which under the circumstances wasn't that bad. So aside from the pain of the dilution, the news is very good that at least in that at least one experienced institutional biotech investor came in which means that there is probably fire underneath the smoke. IE they wouldn't have invested without fully believing the RVX story.

Next event to watch for include a potential license for their lead drug with a big pharma partner. Your guess is as good as mine as to what a drug that reduces atherosclerotic plaque in your arteries is worth, but I'd safely say A LOT. I believe the idea is to get an upfront payment and then an agreed buyout price assuming the Phase II trial(IVUS) starting later this year works out. The buyout price will probably be spectacular($1B+) as the value of the drug is just so high if it can do what they say it can. We won't know the efficacy for a year or so, but in the meantime we should find out what the industry thinks it is worth and consequently what the company is worth.

Next couple of months are going to be very interesting. Let's hope we get the long awaited partnership as well some results from the ongoing 1b/2a study of their drug RVX 208. A deal will push the price back past ten, in my opinion, and good scientific results will help us understand the likelihood that the trial will be successful. The higher the Apo A1, the better the chances that the drug can widen blocked arteries.
