Why not exchange Prefs into Common a la Citigroup?     21-Oct-09 05:31 pm
Why not use the Citigroup exchange as the template for an RBS transaction? They can stop paying cash distributions on the prefs, satisfying the EC's desires, and save face by allowing holders to exchange into common at some kind of premium. Surely they must be studying this alternative. Citi has stopped paying qtrly dividends on all of their preferreds, and the stock has gone up since the exchange was announced. What am I missing?
