I live in Alabama and travel the state for a living. I can attest that there are at least a dozen or more under construction in Alabama. Very smart in Mobile. When they merged with Amsouth they were forced to sell off some of the branches because of market share. They had to do this in a number of places. Now they are closing poor branches and opening them where they are strong and can grow. I also understand from a developer that had a 20 year lease on a previous location that they are not renewing leases and building on land they acquired in REO which I also think is very smart.
