OT: Remember auditors signing off late last year had the debacle of BSC and LEH, AIG, FRE, FNM fresh in their minds combined w/ continuing Sarbox strictures. Most simply assumed there was a good chance the world was coming to an end and forced asset writedowns on an apocalytpic basis for many, many companies IMO. Post Enron, and post the heat on the ratings agencies, accounting firms were not going to do anything but apply the severest asset tests possible.
