In the interest of transparency, the SEC requires foreign stock companies to file various disclosures in an annual 20-F filing. The report from XING's 20-F, filed on July 14, 2009, provides considerable insight into the company's holdings and business actvities, including XING's organizational structure, which reflects 67.6 percent ownership in Qiao Xing Mobile Communication Co., Ltd. (QXM), which experienced a 25 percent price surge on Monday. As such, it topped the list of the biggest price gainers among common stocks on the NYSE at close.

That was the spark that initially caught my eye -- and a few othres, apparently. Later, I saw where the stock was also featured by Michael Brush on MSN Money. The article highlighted QXM's low P/E of 3.4x and its earnings growth rate of 38 percent over the past several years.

Xing Universal's organizational structure provides also reflects the company's 100 percent interest in Chifeng Zhongtai Mining, by virtue of the recent acquisition of China Luxuriance Jade Company.

All in all, it makes for an intriguing mix of technology and mining interests. A hidden gem with considerable upside potential? Could be . . . Buying in here and monitoring closely . . . : )
