PEIX's marketing divisions (Kinergy & Pacific Ag Products) remain operational. So even with the plants in "sleep mode"; PEIX can continue to do business brokering & transporting ethanol, corn and animal feed from other producers.

Remember, there are still Federal and State (CA) mandates requiring the use of ethanol in fuel. These mandates do not go away even if PEIX's plants are shut down. The oil companies producing gasoline for California will still have to blend in ethanol.

What I expect to see in the short term is increased activity from Kinergy brokering ethanol to California refiners. This will continue until March 2010 when California switches back to "summer blend" fuel.
