Paccar reported third quarter results include a one-time net benefit of $9.0 million(14.1 million pretax) related to the permanent closure of it Peterbilt facility in Madison.
This pretax benefit includes plant closure cost of $4.2 million offset by an $18.3 million curtailment gain on post-retirement health plans. Results for the first nine months of 2009 also inclued a one time net benefit of $30.0 milllion($47.7 prtax), for discountinuing certain subsidies for post-retirment health car plans which was recorded in the second quarter.
Closing down plants and not subsidizing retiree health plans sure help your bottom line.
