Several just released SEC Form 4 filings show that Neogen has issued new five year options to several of its key insiders. The timing is interesting and potentially positive for the stock.

The issuance of these latest options is happening with the stock at an unusually high exercise level of $29.33. Also, the issuance has taken place at least a couple of months earlier than usual and BEFORE the August 2009 quarter end. By contrast, options were issued later in the year on 12/21/2004, 10/31/2005 and 11/03/2006.

This all suggests to me that Neogen insiders may be expecting the stock to be higher in the months immediately ahead. Otherwise, they would have delayed granting the options until the more usual "market-risky" months of September, October or November. I can't think of any other rationale for the issuance of the options this early ..... unless something else is in the wind ... such as Neogen being acquired by someone. Now, that would be exciting news!!
