Many folks had an idea that Erik the Great would try to make the numbers by pulling this fast stunt and so they bailed at the end of August along with 100% of their lump sum.

Others were not so fortunate and will be stuck either taking 50% lump/50% annuity payment or waiting until full funding is achieved by 2015 (required by law). Doing the latter will expose them to 100% Corporate Interest rate for calculating the lump sum (in effect as of 2012). Doing the former risks losing part of the pension should Erik or his successors end up screwing up the company so bad that funds are not sufficient and the Feds have to take over, cutting payouts in half for annuities.
