What happens david if banks can own a larger percentage of clearing operations? If banks own a larger part of an exchange run clearing operation then arent they more likely to use that same exchange and clearing house for their trades? If banks own larger chunks of an exchange arent they also more likely to use that exchange.

The issue on UTP isnt the system its the difference between europe and american and the ability of the floor based dmm's etc to actually use the system. It is training of the users that is the problem not the system which is already in use.

As to the cost of healthcare that you brought up last night. Costs are rising as it currently stands and rationing is already occurring that was the point of trying to fix the current system to address those problems.

Housing up again with the hardest hit regions of california and florida showing signs of real improvement ahead of schedule. The gdp revisions show that the dollar weakness is having a slightly less impact on exports than projected so it is the data laying some groundwork for the fed to begin looking at interest rates and its other measures. It is the sign that we are probably approaching the limits of the benefits from a weak dollar policy alone. I could even see the fed raising rates before taking off the other measures as they are much more finely tuned to the actual problems in the system.

By the way newspapers going towards the amalgamated subscription model as content is content in the internet world and would be looking for the company capable of harnessing a business plan that can take advantage. You may hate GE but they are positioning nbcu with hulu and comcast to becoming the cable style content aggregator for the web. Not sure who thought that up but they truly are genius. Now again about the utp?

This was the most positive news I could find on NYX.

ARGUS: Nov. 16, 2009
We are reiterating our BUY rating on Focus List selection NYSE Euronext Inc. (NYSE:
NYX).
We believe that the current NYX stock price undervalues the future benefits from recent
acquisitions, the company's recent entry into the U.S. futures business, internal initiatives
to improve latency, and progress with the Universal Trading Platform. The company has
also demonstrated an ability to execute well, with significant progress on several fronts
over the last year. We also like NYSE's decision to team with major banks and liquidity
providers as equity partners in its U.S. futures and options exchanges. We believe that
these partnerships will allow NYSE to accelerate growth in these key growth products.
We are reiterating our 2009 and 2010 estimates. Our estimates for both years are now
ahead of the consensus. Our 12-month target price is $36.

NYSE Euronext has begun moving over to its new Linux-based multi-asset class, Universal Trading Platform (UTP) with the migration of European bond products. ...
Based on existing systems and incorporating new technology, the platform will see European cash customers experience reduced latency from 1.5 milliseconds a roundtrip to 150-400 microseconds, with capacity trebling, from 30,000 orders a second to 100,000 orders a second.

Congratulations to my colleagues on the Universal Trading Platform going live. For customers in all of our NYSE Euronext markets, the platform is going to bring greater speed, ease of use, efficiency, scalability and capacity. Coming soon to a market near you.

If you want to learn more about the Universal Trading Platform, here's our press release, and here's a three-part video in which our technologists talk about the platform in Part 2.

Yes true and I still hold to that call as there are enough catalysts out there from the platform, to the valuation and investments by the banks in both the option and futures platforms. Aside from giving a value to the company they also bring their business to the trading increasing NYX's position and market share. So yes I am looking for the run in NYX to be better late than never this year.

Yes donna has moved on from the board, those things happen. She's over on another board arguing politics for fun, while I try to ply a lonely trade of supporting nyx. Sure I can run around and caress the keys of many other stocks and ideas and sometimes do my little bit in opening the flow of information for others. How the deficit benefits from higher asset and equity prices how going into christmas the consumer benefits from talk over exit strategies as the psychology of an improving economy begins to take hold. How JLo falling at the AMA's was choreography and leave it to those around here to figure how that may make us all go yeah right. Or how men lie and women lie but numbers dont could be the greatest piece of hood philosophy yet devised, I dont like the thought but advice can sometimes not be the most pleasant thing.

I am still here despite being added to the name of a##holes by some even when for the most part I've done nothing to deserve it. I would like to see the air cleared around here and take a fresh perspective on what is going on but who wants to walk in anywhere day after day and get kicked in the nuts. I could take it all private but I haven't but maybe I will one of these days.

Schumer....passing a health bill= success

WASHINGTON – "Failure is not an option on health care, a leading Democratic senator said Monday, even as Republicans turned up the heat on moderates who hold the fate of the legislation in their hands."

"We're not going to not pass a bill," said Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y. With or without Republican support, Democrats will get it done, Schumer said, because a health care system that leaves nearly 50 million uninsured and spends more than any other is clearly broken."

Do you see the word QUALITY in any of Sen. Schumer's press release?
Will over 300 million Americans be guaranteed the same health care as Mr. Schumer?
Will Senator Schumer force every physician to accept universal health care?
Will all Americans has access to "experimental procedures" for cancer, dialysis, brand drugs, artificial joints, the latest in cardiac surgery, travel to special oncology centers, senior care without rationing, second opinions,
maximum guaranteed waiting time for diagnosis & treatment.

or does Mr. Schumer define success as passing this 2000 page health care bill that creates infinite debt. This bill taxes those who have private insurance and reduces care to those who want to keep Medicare/ coinsurance.

Succeses to Mr. Schumer is counting votes and paying Mary Landreau $300 million. The money could've bought private QUALITY health care to miliions of uninsured Americans.

Why don't the elected officials in Washington get real jobs?

Don't know but whats scary is nyx was in the 25 to 30 area in Nov/Dec on 2008 and here we are in the exact same place 1 year later. This stock might be in this range this time next year. I don't know what to think anymore about nyx other than the days of 112, 100, 90, 80, 70, 60 are gone. Not sure if 50, 40 are gone forever too now?

A tripling of bureaucratic support to afghanistan does as much as a brigade for its long term viability and while you need to protect those civilians it is they who have to do the real heavy lifting in turning around the country. The point has always been to bring the troops home as soon as possible and troops are not a sign of waning support for nation building they are a first step in a longer term project. You wont stop terrorists with an army alone it has never been done you only will stop terrorists by developing a stable and prosperous nation, never in history has that been accomplished and it never will. The Iraq problem was that they ousted all civilian authority in spite of historic lessons that civil servants are necessary in afghanistan building a civil service is the necessity as al quaeda has stepped into the day to day vacuum left by uncaring or overwhelmed domestic staff.

Try finding something to talk about or an idea because the name calling and garbage you continue posting here has gotten old fast. Low hanging fruit in healthcare as the bill forces insurers to create a more efficient system, increasing data rates, the birth of the mobile society (dont miss the irony that a static economy and static social stratification will be broken by mobility) nih funding and grants have gone out, consumer resiliency, and the majority of infrastructure stimulus comes in the spring. The dollar should begin responding to economic strength and is likely finding a bottom.

Meantime go look at the fashion world it may take your mind off things for awhile. Fabric, quality and comfort and about letting women be themselves and finding the beauty in that, not some scrunched up vision out of the boys locker room version and I am sure you will be upset with that. Longer softer hair, sexier lines and still feminine without being in your face. Have fun the world is changing just wish people like you would stick your head out of wherever it is and realize it.

Who knew you were a member of the parrot heads from the conch republic. Its not even thanksgiving and stores are already selling out of the hottest gadgets I wonder if thats a good sign? The same people that argue healthcare at home costs too much argue that supporting a foreign war is appropriate use of funds. They are for domestic jobs and against global integration when it suits their policy stands whether it is hypocritical or not. Claiming that we need the time to read the completed bill but would prefer to start over or add amendments because that makes it so much easier to understand.

When confronted with a clear piece on the facts of why a stock or issue is important the reply is no better than a school yard taunt. Lets teach our kids that its the hypocritical loud mouth that yells loudest and can hurl the best insults thats the one that they should look up to. Forget trying to teach or learn or lead by example, no that doesnt fit in your area of expertise. Lets create a claim that the treasury secretary needs to step down because its the only way to attack Obama is through his team and to try to create division to side track the debate long enough for the country to suffer just a little bit longer until we get into power. I know you hate them all everyone is horrible watch out for yourself because you're the only one that cares. Thats your manifesto, I get it but dont think you do.

That is not the way to teach that is not the way to make our country better, the arguably greatest conservative thinker of the last 20 years is showing up with gasp liberals and agreeing with some of their ideas and trying to find common ground because Newt at least gets some things right. I can disagree with most of what he says and think he is wrong but he wants to help on education I am all for it before we slip backwards as a power and have to rely on our military might to accomplish anything. When a nation must rely on strong arm tactics its days as a power are few and I really do wish you would begin to see that you do more harm than good for the country and its future.
