dudes, let's talk visa and mastercard for a moment.... you should acquaint yourself with their business models, because they would love to get their hands on paypal or pago as an online payment platform. Visa and Mastercard are payment networks, and they make their money on fees associated with payment transactions that cross their payment networks. The banks, citi, jpmorgan etc. are visa and mastercard issuers.
There is something called the "interchange rate," that is paid by merchants like restaurants, retailers etc. This interchange rate is split between the issuing banks, visa and mastercard, and sometimes with an entity called an "acquiring bank." For every transaction this split of interchange occurs.
Visa and Mastercard have a duopoly on the payment network business. Whenever you use your credit or debit card it touches their network. Unless you have an Amex card / product.


Don't think for a second that visa and mastercard don't think about all the "toll booth" money they are losing from paypal and pago. Sure people can use their visa or mastercard to pay for goods on ebay or meli via pago or paypal, but if all of this was done through visa or mastercard instead of paypal or pago mastercard and visa would be a lot happier.

The online payment space is a huge area of investment for visa and mastercard. in fact...do you know who runs paypal? you guessed it, all ex visa execs and people.

visa and mastercard could make a $10B bid just for pago and sell-off all the other stuff.
