MSA aint the old MSA, and for the worse      4-Nov-09 08:46 pm
I am an MSA share holder and friends of several MSA employees and what they have been telling me is really disturbing in my opinion. Most of them work at the instrument division who design the sophisticated electronic instruments that protect people from harmful gasses among other things. There has been an ongoing regime change where employees from the safety products division who manufacture hard hats bullet proof vests and other nonelectronic products are taking over management positions over instrument division departments they know nothing about. From what they are telling me the result has been disasterous because of the incompetence of these new managers who make one naive and uninformed decision after another. It looks like just another take over of one division over another with the top execs bringing in their good old boy buddies. On top of that MSA in general is increasingly outsourcing manufacturing to Mexico and China and even though they say its just for consumption in those countries my friends all see the writing on the wall that there days are numbered and MSA is becoming yet another greedy company run by CEOs that want to line there pockets with ever more exorbitant bonuses by way of pleasing the top share holders who are on the board of directors with bigger profits at the expense of the average american workers. Its greed, greed, greed, and nothing but greed. The biggest shame is that these self serving CEOs who believe they ARE the company will be fat and happy and retired before MSA is pretty much a shell of its former self and under the thumb of China and other emerging economic countries. Management and CEO positions can be outsources as well but these unscrupulous jerks will be enjoying there retirement in there mansions on the 18th green before it happens. If your only about profit and nothing but profit maybe or maybe not MSA is a good investment for you. The days of the family owned business who acually gave a hoot about there low level employees is over. They consider those employees over paid but who isnt over paid compared to 3rd world countries. MSA makes a fine profit now in spite of the economic gloom and doom they keep using as an excuse to push the low level employees even lower. Invest in them if you want but dont be surprised if your own company throws you out to the wolves as well for the sake of there own fat wallets. God help America cuz unless your in the good old boy network your standard of living will keep going down, down, down. My MSA buddies didnt believe my predictions a few years ago but now they see it happening right in front of them. Blatant protectionism isnt a good thing but a little bit of it isnt a bad thing if it keeps your country economically healthy for ALL, not just for the few fat cats who think of themselves as the real movers and shakers but are just a bunch of egotistical broadstroke strategists who just make there subordinates do the real work.
