I think the question about ST and STB stems from the fact that MIPS always claims strong penetration in digital home applications. As you note, ST has historically used proprietary technology here (with the exception of the MIPS64 license that came out of their relationship in China on the Longsun program) so I think the analysts were looking to John to see if he saw this as a potential crack in the MIPS dominance story.
