I took a quick look at RVSB. The thing I didn't like is the amount of goodwill on the balance sheet. I pretty much refuse to pay very much for intangible assets because they so often get written off eventually. As you are probably aware, that is why SCX had a large loss in its most recent quarter. Now that SCX has written off most of the goodwill, I am more interested again. Over the years, I have come to believe that most of the acquired companies never really had much goodwill that shows up on the balance sheet of the acquirer. The buyers were simply in empire building mode during economic boom times and they just oerpaid.
