I'm still flopping daily on the glass being half full or half empty. Our economy has more holes than the Titanic and our leadership on both sides are clueless. I read today that China is booming again which is very bad news for us. Yet on up days you get that glimmer of hope that we'll pull out from the nose dive just in time to avoid hitting the ground. Right now the market is rallying for the same reason as LPX, in other words the stats suck less than people expected. Layoffs are still huge but not as big as they expected. That's a fools rally but it's a rally none the less. The positive news to look for is when hiring begins again. The question is with the current landscape who will be left to do the hiring? Home sales and building product companies will not recover until unemployment begins to go the other direction. Hopefully that will start by the first quarter but it will be slow. No "V" shaped recovery on the horizon. Grab the pine tar, you're going to need a good grip to hang on through this one.
