If you look at the history of Medicare Competitve Bidding back to the 1990s Demonstration Projects and the 2007 false start - Lincare and the other nationals won few, if any bids. They bid too high.

But they bought companies that did get the bids, though. I expect they will this time, too, at a premium.

In the Demonstration Projects, not much marketshare changed - the winning companies were the ones that already had the marketshare.

But marketshare is consolidating now with the accreditation and surety bond requirements and competitive bidding. In Florida, 50% of the DME companies have dropped Medicare. Most likely those are the smaller ones without much Medicare business.
