Back to the Lesson:

Last quarter Agilent actually spent $153M on R&D, having cut $17M from the previous quarter.

On total revenue of $1,057M, that's 14.5% spent on R&D.
Agilents EMG business (Where the oscilloscopes live) made up 49.6% of their total revenue.
Inside EMG, General Purpose Test (Where the scopes live) made up 62.2% of the EMG total.
Inside General Purpose Test are included oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, signal generators, power supplies, digital multimetes, bit error rate testers, and more than two dozen other types of instruments.

So, for your homework, how much does Agilent spend on oscilloscope R&D in absolute dollars and as a percentage of oscilloscope revenue? If you need help then just ask that out-of-work-ex-Agilent dude Thombrowniing....I'm sure he'll consult his hard drive and cough up an answer.
