we need to talk about this      1-Feb-09 09:39 am
I stll hold a bunch of microcap stocks, such as KTCC, but I have changed startegies. Fortunately I had some new cash to employ after the crash, and went in some new directions. My largest holdings are somewhat larger companies, with a thinly traded small bond issue as my largest holding. Here are my largest holdings in order:

JBR - This is a trust that owns JC Penney bonds and trades like a stock. The investment type is called a CORT, and I forget what that acronym stands for. The bonds have a face value of $25, and the stock is most recently about $13.30. The shares receive $1.75 of interest (not dividends) each year. The current yield is 13.2%. I started buying this a couple or 3 months ago at prices as low as $9.45, which is a yield of 18%. The bonds to not mature until long after I die (2097). I dont like long term bonds generally, due to interest rate risk, but made an exception here.

DXPE- I gthink most of us are familiar with this stock. I have varied my amt in this stock, but just like this one alot.

NFG at $30 has a 4.3% div yld. I am not selling (bought in the $27s) but would not buy more till after earnings. This is my local nat gas utility, and is a very safe stock that can easily move up 20% or more over the next year. Very safe div.

MTB - A very well run bank also hq'ed in my backyard. Buffett likes it. I couldnt resist recently when the stock got in the mid $30s. Would not touch many banks today, but this is a good one.

WCG - Been holding since the stock dived after the late 2007 fraud came out. Was getting very impatient, and then last week they filed the 2007 10K. Better late than never! I believe more good news will be coming though i cannot even guess when. I am almost back to even.

OFI - The largest of my microcap stocks (if you call DXPE small cap). This food company could have a great report.

The largest of my traditional bonds are the Coventry Health 5.95% bonds of 2017. If bought today around $675/ bond, the Yield to maturity is 12.3%. If the bonds move up to say $900/ bond, I may sell. There is very strong interest coverage.

I'll stop and hope to get others to talk about their largest (or my largest). Enjoy the Superbowl!
