sorry guys but if you lost money here then you have no one else to blame but yourself as it was greed that did you in. the stock went from a low of 0.43 to a high of 3.20 - that is a 644% gain. greed is why you held. there were signs that you ignored. warren buffet says to sell when everyone else is buying. another saying - pigs get slaughtered. i do feel bad for you but i don't think you should blame the company.

come on - greed???

from all the posturing the company has made, this thing should have been at $20 soon.

this was not a trading stock. this was a small cap pharma where people buy & hold/ INVEST ON BELIEVING MGMT.

imo - in hindsight, this starting going up once the insiders knew they could not meet endpoints... in order to dump as much of their lsses on you as possible b4 delivering the bad news (which is terribly non-descript b/t/w???)

thak God, when i told my friends about LJPC - i stressed using ONLY casino money.

Hedge fund guys have been announcing fake buyouts/mergers so they can get out for months now. They are gonna keep doing to...they go short, sell the stock on the big news, they were and collect on the short position...what they are doing today. Naked shorting is still going on bigtime....there is NO regulation going on....this is the wild wild west now. Like I said, not about Lupus, all about GREED.

Re: Greed     13-Feb-09 04:12 pm
my reply was not to you. anyway - i followed my rules to the tee. i bought low 0.45 - 0.50 and if the pps would have hit 0.35 i would have bailed out and cut my losses. however it went up and i cashed in profits $1.50-$2.00. pigs get slaughtered so that told me to cash in. i'll admit i felt bad for awhile to see it go up to $3 but i always remind myself that no one buys at the absolute low and no one every sells at the absolute high. i also only buy beaten down stocks that have some potential. those are my rules.

Words of wisdom and congrats on a great trade, but what inticed Bio-Marin in? They had to do homework, something still doesnt make sense. And save it Slurp, no need to gloat.

it was a win/win deal for Bio-Marin. they were only investing on an incremental basis based if riquent progressed with positive results. they only risked $15M and for a billion dollar company the risk was worth the reward - easy write-off for them. i am sure ljpc knew the p3 trial failed several months ago - there is no way they didn't. as others have said maybe the partership was a scam for the ones in the know to unload at a premium $2-$3 and small investors got the shaft. this goose is cooked and there is nothing that will the pps from approaching 0 and bk. mark my word.

well.. it wasn't greed, my old ljpc-mb friend.

i have been here for over 5 years to find a cure for lupus - the upside was excpected if such, no doubt.

but again - this was not a trading stock; i know how to play 'the game' (since the dot-bust), and have made much more than decent returns doing exactly what you (correctly) point out.

this was small-cap pharma/ biotech that i never considered a quick profit. i knew i could lose it all, and thought it worthwhile as long as the lupus knowledge base was advanced. had i ever the feeling the drug was bogus, or mgm't exaggerating... i would've invested & held with another better/ real discovery.

i just feel duped, and disgusted at how low people have become for the sake of enriching themselves.

...otherwise - if just an LJPC trader,
i would have been a moron to not take profits on the run from $.45 -> $3.20.

i pledged to see it to the end.
i think my cost through the years (even after avg'ng down in january) is roughly $3.50???

oh well, i got scammed - or misread the science.

i will gladly make the same mistake again in the future when the pay-off (curing a horrible disease/ as well as a few bucks) presents itself.

as far as trading goes, i agree - and have made more than 10x my losses here in the past 18 months (trading as you've advised/ informed the newbies).

gl - with your future trades, and investments.

you didn't follow rule #3 - do not fall in love with a stock. your business sense told you to cash out as the price went up. one baseball analogy i use is - it's better to get several hits and rbi's than to expect 1 home run.

Well said Bea. I've been a long time holder of this stock and have rode the waves and probably should of sold a few of the times and protected gains.....BUT.....I had such faith in this drug. Minimal SE's, does dependent response, former FDA bigwig on board, approvable letter..............I was shocked the other day, and quite frankly I still am. I am really disappointed in mgt. They really played out there poker hand. I'd love to hear from Dr. Gonzalez. I'm sure he's steaming mad..............Most of all, it's another disappointment for patients.

Hopefully the can data mine and perhaps find some positives in the data and some flukes (i know wishful thinking)
Well, now is not the time to dump. I'm going to sit on the sidelines and see how things playout. I've already seen the big loss, why not hope that some Pharma is actually interested in a cheap buy with a couple drugs in the pipe line.
Best,
