KMR receives from KMP i-shares in lieu of dividends. Because it does not sell these i-shares it increases it ownership percentage in KMP. In the latest 10Q it states that it owns about 29% of KMP. However, KMP frequently has stock offerings in which KMP does not participate. This would cause a decrease in the percentage ownership of KMR in KMP.
Has any research plotted the ownership percentage to verify that adjusting out stock offerings that the ownership percentage is increasing by about 8% (the annual dividends) per year? If there were no stock offerings in the next year KMR's percentage ownership should increase about 8% from 29% to 30.24%. Rating :
