How about an alternate view on the market dangers/opportunities we are facing on a macro level....

Having just reached 10,000, the recovering DJIA is virtually unchanged from where it was ten years ago - an "outlier" period of non performance for this equity measure if there ever was one.

In fact, I am looking at this long period of non-performance as the bullish base for major capital appreciation for buy and hold investors.

During the past 10-year period, the index has fluctuated from a high of 14,000 to a low of 6600, and back.

It is a performance which, taken on its own, downplays (or eliminates) the need for longer-term equity holdings in one's asset portfolio!

We all think as traders and fight for advantages of pennies per share on equity positions which offer potential gains of 50% to much more than that over a period of two to five years if we would only sit still.

Ten year outliers of non-performance such as that we have just come through are usually follewed by periods of greater than average annual gains.

Rather than get uncomfortable from less than bulliish comparisons against where we are or have recently been, a longer view is justifiable and well be well rewarded.

I am long KLIC which looks to me like it is one of those two- to-five year stocks which can produce extremely favorable, realistic, long term appreciation.
