The following text appeared in the March 31, 2009 edition of Business Week:

"Taking back his namesake brand and pioneering company has never been far from the mind of Jackson Hewitt Tax Service (JTX) founder John Hewitt. Over the past two weeks, Hewitt, now CEO of Liberty Tax Service, finally put money behind the ambition, as Liberty's closely held parent, JTH Tax, snatched a 9.3% stake in Parsippany (N.J.)-based Jackson Hewitt. 'It's something I've thought about a lot,' Hewitt said on Mar. 31. "I want to be No. 1 and have more market share than anyone.'"

I'm not sure, at this point, how much of a stake Mr. Hewitt has in JTX; however, it's kinda' interesting the note the last line of the tagline that has been accompanying recent Liberty PRWeb press releases. Here's one from October 27: "With 41 years of tax industry experience, Hewitt stands as the most experienced CEO in the tax preparation business, having also founded Jackson Hewitt Tax Service (NYSE: JTX)."

At the very least, doesn't it seem kinda' unusual -- or telling, perhaps -- that Liberty would "play up" the name of one of its biggest competitors?

An interesting scenario has certainly been evolving here -- especially with the services of Goldman Sachs coming on in June along with Mr. Buckley's appointment . . .Either way, tax season is fast approaching . . . and so is the ramping. : )
